"Easily Excited with Eric Collins!" replaces select Dodgers television broadcasts

(Chicago, IL) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers, in coordination with Fox Sports Prime Ticket and KCAL-9 Los Angeles, announced the debut of a replacement television program for select Dodgers broadcasts for the remainder of the 2013 season.

"Easily Excited with Eric Collins!" will air in lieu of all Dodgers games not announced by Vin Scully, beginning with this afternoon's game in Colorado at 3:10pm CT.

Junior Associate Senior VP of the Executive Corporate Broadcast Committee Mick Tuesday says of the change, "Eric's brand of calling ballgames is just so radically different from what Dodgers fans expect, so we felt it was inappropriate to use the same graphics package, the team's name or even refer to the new show as an actual sports broadcast."

"Easily Excited with Eric Collins!" stars veteran Midwestern college sports broadcaster and part-time Dodgers play-by-play announcer Eric Collins and his unique blend of pointless, inattentive commentary and random, misplaced excitement.

Eric's resume includes extensive college football, NFL Europe,
a little baseball, lots of college basketball.

"The fans repeatedly tell us how much they love it when Eric gets so excited that he screams like a prepubescent boy about a Dodgers leadoff single in the 3rd inning, a soft liner hit for an out by the opposing pitcher, or basically whenever bat meets ball," said Tuesday.

Since 2009, when Eric finished 5th in an essay-writing contest to get the job, Dodgers fans have caught on to his signature style of emotion at the wrong time and emphasis on the wrong words. That's the inspiration for "Easily Excited with Eric Collins!" It's sure to create a new generation of Dodger fans "bleedin' blue" from their ears as he ignores balls and strikes in favor of endless banter.

"Eric is in his element not talking about the Los Angeles Dodgers, so removing the Dodgers from those broadcasts allows us to finally showcase Eric Collins as a true star," said Tuesday.

"Easily Excited with Eric Collins" will air on Fox Sports Prime Ticket and KCAL-9 in place of the live broadcasts of all Dodgers road games not played in California or Arizona the rest of this year. It is assumed the show will not be renewed for a second season, but future inquiries should be directed to Time Warner Cable.

Check local TV listings for channel and schedule. Viewer discretion is advised. Any rebroadcast, retransmission, or account of "Easily Excited with Eric Collins," without the express written consent of Major League Baseball, is prohibited. This story was not subject to the approval of the Los Angeles Dodgers or Major League Baseball.
