The Bullpen, Broadcasting and Balance

Don't look now, but the Dodgers have assembled a good bullpen... There's a clear closer in Kenley Jansen, who just saved three wins against the Cubs. He threw three perfect innings over four days and struck out eight. Only one batter he faced bothered to put the ball in play, and it was a groundout.

Jansen, Paco RodriguezJames Phillip HowellPretty Boy Belisario and Chris Withrow form the core of relief, as their combined stats show:

The streaky Dodgers have found some unlikely balance in early August... The loss last night in St. Louis snapped a 15-game road winning streak, but that streak helped the Dodgers improve their away record to 31-25. That's identical to their record at Dodger Stadium. -- (Lazlow)

There are only 15 games left in the schedule for Eric Collins to screw up... He found every excuse to beam about his home town of Chicago and Wrigley Field during the recent Cubs series. If he would show half the interest in anything related to the Dodgers, one might be more willing to excuse his amateurish, distracting play-by-play calls.

Remaining schedule for "Easily Excited with Eric Collins!"
8/7-8/8 @ St. Louis
8/16-8/18 @ Philadelphia
8/19-8/22 @ Miami
9/2-9/4 @ Colorado
9/6/-9/8 @ Cincinnati
